What a week! As expected, MRC Vegas 2019 has been a huge success and we were happy to be a part of it. HUGE shoutout to CyberSource for being the main sponsor. “Balancing Act” was not only CyberSource’s theme, but also our personal theme of the week as we balanced the busy agenda - great meetings, interesting speakers, and nightly parties and connections.
We kicked off the week with the cool “Alice in Wonderland” themed welcome party, hosted by Verifi. It was a great way to start the week and reconnect with old and new friends. We made lots of connections thanks to the mix of attendees, hallway conversations, and our Connections Café, which was a great interactive space to recharge thinking and devices.
Many of the sessions were heavily focused on the hot topic of PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication, including a panel featuring our very own Ian Poole, Senior Director of Global Product. They covered how EMV® 3-D Secure can fulfill the requirements of SCA and the deadline quickly approaching in September. Keep that in mind and make sure your business is ready.
There were a ton of interesting breakout sessions that covered topics from the dark web to FBI stories to Bitcoin. The mix of session topics had something for everyone. While we were “balancing” our agendas, we also heard from incredible keynote speakers on the importance of balancing learning and fun. We still can’t believe Banachek figured out the “knives” and didn’t’ get stabbed.
Our long days wrapped up with fun nights connecting with friends and colleagues at parties at great Vegas venues including SkyBar at the Waldorf by Cybersource and the Apex nightclub glitter party hosted by Ethoca. Aside from the parties, the women (and a few men) took time for themselves to attend the Women in Fraud and Payments lunch on Thursday. Definitely a relaxing treat to finish the week.
We’re so appreciative of everyone who made an appearance at Vegas this year! It’s not every day that industry leaders get together to focus on eCommerce fraud, payments, and cybersecurity. Special thanks to those who stopped by to chat with us. What happens in Vegas doesn’t have to stay in Vegas - let’s keep the conversation going!
