Highlights from the ARC Payments Forum

On June 13, at the Dupont Circle Hotel in Washington D.C., members of the digital payments community, within the airlines industry, convened for the beginning of the fourth annual ARC (Airlines Reporting Corporation) Payments Forum. The conference, which spanned two days, brought the group together to discuss the latest developments in this fast-moving, exciting industry.

Tara Lavelle, SVP of Marketing at Cardinal, and Bassam Chamaa, Account Executive on Cardinal’s Airlines_Reporting_CorporationPartnerships Team, delivered a presentation at ARC centered around 3-D Secure 2.0, its importance to the entire industry and the impact it will have on the industry going forward.

Online transactions are on the rise but so is fraud, which has opened the door for 3-D Secure 2.0 to solve a lot of issues that airlines and issuers have dealt with for many years in the digital commerce space. Lavelle and Chamaa talked about the various benefits of 3-D Secure 2.0, including the enhanced data exchange between the key stakeholders involved in the transaction and the vastly improved consumer experience.

One of the most important takeaways from the presentation was that airlines (as well as other merchants) can start preparing for, and taking advantage of the benefits of 3-D Secure 2.0 right now. The first step for merchants is finding a provider who supports both the 3-D Secure 1.0 and 2.0 protocols. CardinalCommerce can do that, and can help both merchants and issuers prepare for this upcoming shift in the industry.
