The Card-Not-Present (CNP) Expo got underway yesterday, as many members of the digital payments industry converged in Orlando, Florida, for the conference. This is an important event in the industry, and the Cardinal team is at the conference to hear from some of the insightful and informative speakers giving presentations throughout the week.
One of those speakers is Brett Johnson, who kicked off the conference yesterday by delivering the keynote address. Johnson, a former hacker who now works on the other side, as a consultant, gave an excellent opening speech and scared everyone in the room by talking about his former exploits. If there was a highlight from his speech, it was that cybercriminals will always take the path of least resistance to achieve their goals.
The Cardinal team also heard from Todd McGuire, Chief Transformation Officer at Worldpay, who spoke about the future of the digital payments industry, and some of the innovations in the industry. McGuire spoke about China and India, the largest and fastest growing eCommerce markets in the world, respectively. Both these markets deserve attention, as they will continue to impact the industry going forward.
Ian Poole, Director of Technical Product Management at Cardinal, led a panel entitled, “Practical Considerations of Various Authentication Methods.” Ian was joined on the panel by Krithika Ramadoss, Head of Fraud Product & Strategy at Western Union Digital; Paolo Teotino, Senior Product Management Director at Syniverse and Ofer Mizrach, Vice President of Product Management at ThreatMetrix. The two biggest topics during this panel were false positives and fraud, and how to effectively prevent both, simultaneously.
Throughout the first day, there were sessions on a wide variety of topics, ranging from friendly fraud to data analytics. At the end of the day, the Cardinal team and industry friends relaxed at the lounge in the resort, and talked about the first day’s highlights.
If you’re at the CNP Expo and see anyone from Cardinal, stop them to say hello! You can also stop by the Cardinal booth (#310) if you want to talk to anyone on the Cardinal team. Remember, One Connection to Cardinal will Drive Digital Commerce.
