“We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it.” – William Faulkner
July 4th is Independence Day in the U.S., a day dedicated to honoring our country and our Founding Fathers, and celebrating our freedom. We observe this holiday with family and friends, commonly at cookouts, enjoying parades and firework spectacles, and taking weekend vacations, but it is very important to remember the reason behind it all.
On July 4, 1776, the thirteen colonies formally claimed their independence from England. This event eventually led to the Revolutionary War and the formation of the United States of the America, the country in which we are proud to live today.
We remember this, and the sacrifices of our Founding Fathers, as we celebrate this holiday weekend with friends and family.
From all of us at Cardinal, Happy Fourth of July!
