Cardinal’s own Tim Sherwin, Chandra Balasubramanian, and Mike Roche attended the 2015 EMV User Meeting. This year’s meeting was held at the Hotel Monaco in Seattle. Several new members joined us, PSP’s and issuers worldwide.
This event, ran by American Express, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, UnionPay, and Visa, focused on getting everyone comfortable with the authentication use cases and the new protocols. The overall basis behind 3DS 2.0 is “more”. The new protocols account for many new options merchants can share with issuers in order to drive fraud out of the system, while increasing acceptances on both sides of the table.
3DS 2.0 is going to be a critical tool for the industry to scale, as it addresses several of the challenges the new devices present to the current protocols. Issuers and merchants will be able to grow as fast as the pace of technology, without fraud growing as well. If your organization is eligible for membership, I would highly recommend joining in order to help us shape the future of Consumer Authentication globally as it evolves.
